Phil Collings

Phil is our resident expert on engine fixes. He regularly runs "engine clinics" at Porter field and anybody who has been to one would know Phill has a wealth of knowledge.

He has been modelling for 23 years and likes to experiment with unusual engines.

Phil's current project is a Mig 15, but he is currently flying aircraft powered by turbine engines that he has built himself. He is also learing how to fly electric helis (is there any aspect of aeromodelling this man won't try?!)

When asked if he had an all time favourite aircraft, his answer was the Martin Mars, the world's largest flying boat.

His most memorable moment was winning 3rd place in the 1996 State Seaplane Championships.

Outside of modelling Phil devotes his time to his other passion .. his 3 boys.

Phil is often down at the field and is a very friendly fellow and a wealth of knowledge on engines. If you are new to modelling, do make sure you get along to one of his engine clinics, the knowledge you will walk away with is invaluable.
